Question HK Move and DB school options

    Hi all,

Will accept a job later in the year october in HK. Looks like accommodation will be in DB.

Company will not pay the debentures etc. however income is sufficient for the Term fees for international schooling.

My kid is 3.5 and is in nursery 2 at a international kindergarten. I am getting scared with waiting lists horror stories.

Has anyone experienced moving to DB recently and getting a similar aged kid into international schooling preferably in DB without waiting list or nearby TC?

Thanks for your help, appreciate it.

The decent ones all have a long waiting list as expected, but for kindergarten there are many options. It is primary school that you need to worry about. How long are you planning to stay? That would make a difference in school options.

DBIS is a no-go if you didn't register by birth, ESF a huge lottery, DMK is a great kindie with a new primary school. You should get in the queues nevertheless. There should be some pull outs onto other through-train schools for DMK anyhow. DMS & Sunshine house at DB north plaza are both great schools too, so you should consider them in the mean time, especially if you don't intend to stay in HK for too long.

For TC there's again DMK & Sunshine house, in addition there is Greenfield at the Carribbean Coast and Sun Island near Costal Skyline (more Chinese kids so if you want your child to learn chinese i guess that's a plus).

Many Int'l schools on the HK Island do have school bus from the pier, if you intend to stay for long and consider the through-train schools (which go all the way up to highschool graduation; again huge competition everywhere).
