    Admission to Kinder garden

We are moving to Hongkong middle of Nov.
Could somebody guide us the possibility of getting admisssion into some international school. While checking in the internet realised that the academic year started in Sep and admissions are closed for 2012~2013. Is it impossible to get admission into kindergarden midterm? Also noticed that to apply in the school we need to be there in Hongkong with valid visa etc.

We will be staying in North point so will prefer to have a school around that area.

Forum members information sharing will be much appreciateed.

Getting into Kindergarten's mid term are generally not a problem but spots available are few and may not be available at your chosen school. Call schools individually.
Would suggest you go with Woodland Schools in Happy Valley (www.woodlandschools.com) or Tutor Time in Braemar Hill Tutor Time International Nursery & Kindergarten - Tour a Center.

Yes you will need a valid visa for your child to be enrolled in school. Check with the school individually for when you can present this to them.

Depending on your child's age, you will also need to apply for the international schools for primary. Both Woodland and Tutor time have classes for kids up to 6 years old.
Do your homework quick on the primary schools and apply immediately. Look in this website for guidance.
    Good Luck.

Here's a list of Kindergartens on HK Island you can consider

Hong Kong Island Nurseries / Kindergartens

Also, there is Island Children Montessori in Tin Hau which is not to far from you.

A preschool is probably the least of your concerns, it's Primary that's going to be the issue to get into, so look for both straight away.

I do not know anyone who go there personally, but have seen their school's TV ad late at night. I was wondering why a good school would need to put ads on TV to attract enrollment... but at this point, go for any through-train school that can offer you a spot; you can always switch later to another kindie or through-train school next year. If you have another option, do let us know and we can help you analyze which one is more suitable for your family.
