Most of the kids from our building go to Kumon. Sorry I don't know that much about it. Can you start at 3?

I would expect my daughter could learn more in Kumon

My impression is that Kumon force your child to do exercise. I am afraid that this would affect her logical thinking ability in the future.

my ten year old goes to kumon - and seriously, i don't think children less than 5-6 should go. He likes it because he does kumon math - there's a lot of repetition and you work against a clock so if your child is self-competitive it works in really making their math skills super fast. however, younger children i think would be better off understanding the concepts of math rather than learning thru repetition. just my opinion.

Absolutely agree with you, Parkviewmom. You need some drilling in Math for kids, but only AFTER they fully understand the concepts. Math is so much more than just speed in calculation. You want them to love solving problems and finding solutions. My humble opinion.

I think it's a little early to send your daughter to Kumon, coz she's just 3. She needs company of parents and she may not want to study formally from such a early age. Maybe she can do some interesting practice on the nice website Beestar, and at the same time you can sit together with her and teach her how to do the math, reading or vocabulary. It might be a good idea for a little girl, because it's what I am doing with my son now.
