    Local School vs KCIS

    GREETINGS!

We have a child currently in a local school and recently offered a place in KCIS which is reserved for her until next week unless we pay the deposits.

We are a non Chinese Expats and we want our child to come out proficient in english with the good grasp of Mandarin. I find the local school heavy of home works and long school hours which is very difficult for our child to cope with. This surely is a case of quality versus expense.

The KCIS tuition is double that of the local school..plus we employed the help of math and putonghua tutor in the evenings just to cope.

IS IT TIME TO SWITCH SCHOOL? ANY COMMENTS ABOUT KCIS?

    THANKS MUCH!

Hi I noticed there was an interesting article in the April issue of Hong Kong Parents Journal about making such choice between local and international school. It is free and I think you can access it on line.

By the way, both my kids went to KCIS.

    Hi kittylover
I'm moving to Hk next yr. Been looking for schools from Int'l to DSS. I want my dd to have a good command of english as well as pick up local language. I've got a number of schools in mind and cant decide which 3-4 schools i need to apply for. My dd is a 2nd grader from an IGCSE school in India. I went over KCIS curriculum. Since ur kids attended this school - could you please tell me if KCIS curriculum is same as the other Int'l schools. Are ur kids still in KCIS? RSVP

My son is in KCIS from reception to now primary 5. It uses Uk cirriculum. U need to join the exam of IGCE and IB. It is a great school. The environment and facilities is ok, just not as good as other international school in HK because they do not charge u super expensive school fee like others. I am satisfied with the environment. But the exam result in secondary school is not very good.
