    Move to HK, Kellett School

Hi, My family and I are British relocating from France to Hong Kong this summer. My 2 children, aged 14 and 12, attend a French school here so are totally bilingual in their mother tongue English and French. They have been offered places at Kellett in years 10 and 8. My husband has visited the school but myself and the children have not. Would love to have comments, both positive and negative, on the school before making final decision. Also where to all those expat parents tend to live if their children are at Kellett. Many thanks for your responses.

    Hi there,

We're Kellett parents. Moved there a couple of years from ESF.

    Some observations:

    - The school has excellent management and staff in place and while there are a few parents who seem to have issues with a few things, in my experience, the students are very well supported by the school.
    - Academics are good and getting better as the new students (from the expanded school) move up through the school and their number and diversity increases.
    - Depending on how sporty your children are, there seems to be a good sports section in place. Some of the sporting activities seem to get a bit too intense for my liking as there is a little bit of overseas travel. Not too sure how the students are supported academically while they're representing the school at various overseas tournaments.
    - Have you looked at their newsletters? Here's a link to their current newsletter ( Kellett School ). You might want to browse through past newsletters to get a better idea of what goes on during a regular year.
    - Curriculum, it is GCSE and A-Levels so it may or may not appeal to you. We're not fans of the IB curriculum and our options were limited to Kellett and Harrow.

Where do people stay? Seems like everyone is commuting from all over. Fair few from Pok Fu Lam / Mid Levels (check with the school that bus places are likely to be available from your preferred ara). Your kids are probably old enough to commute on the public transport (the MTR station is 10 mins walk away - may be an issue or may not be).

We're located in Pok Fu Lam and a fair few kids commute to Kowloon bay on the bus.

You should really visit the school and see for yourself.

Let me know if you have any questions...

Thank you so much for taking time to respond to my question, it is very much appreciated.

My husband has now visited Kellett and was very impressed with what he saw and we have been very happy with the way in which all our questions have been answered by the teaching staff. Are parents encouraged to get involved in activities and events at the school? Did you ever consider putting your children at Discovery International? Our children were also offered places there.

Thanks too for you information on where to live. We have a small dog so are looking at Clearwater which was suggested to us. I will also ask my husband to visit Pok Fu Lam this coming weekend.
