Living in Sai Kung and school on Island

    Dear All,

Our daughter will be starting a Bradbury this year as we will be living at Parkview for a good while. OH and I have been discussing a possible move to Sai Kung eventually, in order to swap apartment living for a house and garden.

Do many children commute from SK to the island? It seems like a huge commute for someone so young to make each day. Is it more likely that I will be looking at moving her to CWB school?

    Thanks.

I've met a few families that commute. Mostly teachers who work at the school, or parents who work on the Island and drive in everyday. To be honest, its hard on the kids. Waking up early, commute time, also after-school playdates are difficult to manage. The best would be transfer her to CWB when the time comes. Had another friend who did this, and the kids adjusted fine.

Well, my daughter is on the waitlist for CWB school but it is a LONG waitlist

If anyone knows of any private minibus service or if somebody has a space in their carpool and would like to share costs, please PM me.

    Thanks.

My friend's son just got a spot in Y1 ... after 1 1/2 years, his sister will probably have a spot in Y2 in January ... they're still waiting for their 3rd child ...

Hope you can work something out!

Was he in another ESF school before? My daughter is on a very long wait list. It could be years (not exaggerating) before she gets a position.

Just wondering if your friend nagged the school much or if that would be detrimental (considering all tactics here!) or, whether she just played teh waiting game.

    Many thanks..

i believe children who are already in the esf system are given priority ahead of those who are not. if your child starts out at Bradbury, that gives you a very strong advantage.

That would be true Dimsum mum but I know my child's position on the list and it seems there are many in the same position
Not that it's any consolation to me
