Feedback from mothers - playgroups in HK

So I need some honest feedback...I have just started teaching in an amazing English speaking playgroup in Hong Kong based on the concept of humane education. It creates a fun and interactive environment for children to improve their English skills while learning how to be kind and compassionate towards animals, the environment, different cultures and each other. Sadly though, there are hardly any students.

Coming from Australia, I know that this is a great concept which would be really appreciated and respected but in Hong Kong, it seems like people are more interested in getting their children through the competitive cycles of schooling.

I would love some honest feedback on your thoughts about this wholesome type of learning. Is this the kind of place you would send your children? Is there potential for this concept of learning and play in such a competitive environment? This is not a marketing ploy in any way. I am just trying to grasp an understanding of the industry.

    Your feedback is appreciated

englishhk- from the sounds of it your playgroup could probably just use a bit more marketing, as I have never heard of anything like it. Other factors are of course location, price, hours of operation, language (right now as I can see there are a lot more people focused on bilingual playgroups).

Although schooling is without question competitive in Hong Kong, I think at the playgroup level it is really only competitive with other playgroups, seeing as how no playgroup as far as I am aware can help or guarantee a child into a kindergarten or primary school.

Thanks for your response. Yes I think you are right that it needs to be marketed a lot more.

Englishhk, how is your playgroup going now?
I just started one myself and find it hard to reach out as well.

The one I started is an outdoor playgroup/afternoon activity for children of age 1-5 where the children learn about the outdoor, do sports and have a lot of supervised free play.
