    Packing School Bag - P1

    P1 Moms,

What do you need to pack in your child's school bag?

    We've got the following:

    * Pencil case, with a few pencils, and a sharpener. Heard they're not allowed erasers.
    * Box of Colored pencils - do we need crayons too?
    * Lunch box and Drink

    Am I missing anything?

not a P1 mum but a former P1 class teacher...
I'd add a ruler and a hanky or pack of tissues (underrated importance).
A lot of kids who had a "wax crayon pencil"... u know one of those pencils with interchangeable wax crayon bits... or a box of skinny wax crayons, had an easier time in the classroom as you don't have to sharpen them.
The local schools allow erasers but I don't know about ESF.

Now you have me in a panic. I was told that Sophie didn't need any school supplies. Just her lunchbox and water bottle etc. At AIS everything else was provided although at home in Australia we did take our own supplies.

By the way, what day do you start? Soph starts on Tuesday but I think the little ones don't start until Wednesday or later right?

Thanks Spockey. Will get some crayons too.

Sophwillsmum - heard they need the basics. not sure why the school hasn't given us a list. maybe we'll get it on the first day? The young ones are starting in groups of 10 from Tues-Thurs, and then the entire class goes in on Friday. Also, they're going in at 10am. Just got his school shoes and uniform ready. Now we've got to sit down and label everything.

    Good luck on Tues!

Yes, in Australia they always gave us a list. Maybe I'll just wait until tomorrow to find out. I just don't want Sophie to feel like the odd one out if all the other kids have their supplies. It's daunting enough as it is being the new student.

Good luck with D, you must be so excited!!Next to the day my children were born, I would have to put starting to school up there with my biggest emotional moments in their lives.

I'll look out for you at Kennedy.

A little file bag for him to put him to put in his homework so that he knows what homework he has to do. Why no erasers? Interesting. I used to teach P1 and I remember having to call mums to tell mums to pack their kids' bag according to the timetable given. Kids used to come with something like 15kg in their bags. Way too much for their little bodies.
