Hi---
Within the past three days it has come to our attention that we could possibly be relocated to HK starting January 2014. (I expect this to be confirmed within two weeks) Of course, as I am sure you all know, education is the hardest bridge to cross in this move, regardless of timing.
I have one son who is 9, turning 10 in January, currently in school in the states. Would it even be possible to get him into a school in January at this late date? I've contacted the ESF schools, HKIS, the American International School and The Kellett School.
Does any one have a feel for waitlists, such as how long they are? How much does the size of the debenture make in getting them bumped around on the waitlist? Does country of origin make a difference in placement? For example, would a child from the UK be given priority over an American child? (For the Kellett School)
There are a few options we are kicking around, including my son and me remaining state-side until the summer, then starting him in school in August. Is that possible? I know we still have to go through the process, but is there a smaller chance he would be waitlisted?
Any help or direction you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
