    Hi TomthePom,

Small world indeed! PM your details if you want to meet up before you leave Sydney. We actually leave end of May but don't get to HK until early Aug. What month/year was your 4yr old born?
We applied to a range of schools in Jan and have actually been offered places at 4 of them. Our two top preferences were AISHK & HKA but they have basically told us it highly unlikely we'll get a spot for 2014 or 2013-14.Think we've decided which offer to take but just waiting on a few more answers. (Even though we're already holding a place at one school think we'll let that go for another school! Expensive exercise)
I know of a couple of people holding places at several schools who aren't deciding which one to til closer to the start if term, so am sure places will cone up. Although that doesn't help you plan where to live etc . . .
Good luck & PM me if you want more info

Moving to HK with 4 and 2 as well

Hi BritOzMum and Tomthepom, we are at Sydney and moving to HK in late May as well. Have been searching around the hk cc for my kids for a while, not easy. So far I have registered two cc, one is Greenfield, the other is DMS. I will find out which one to attend after the interviews.

    Cool

hi BritOzMum, Tomthepom and deewhy, we are moving to HK from sydney too! will be arriving in hk in August, so trying to sort out all the school stuff for my little one now. She's turning one soon so i'm enrolling her in playgroups at the moment. We are looking to stay around the cyberport area, so looking into sunshine vs. woodlands nurseries.

I read somewhere someone is looking to set up a sydney mothers group? was this set up in the end? interested to join when we arrive!

    Hi BritOzMum,

I hope your search for schooling is going well. I have 4 children and I know how stressful it is!

In case you are still looking, I wanted to let you know about the Nord Anglia International School, which is the new British curriculum school opening in September 2014. Our priority admissions period is now open and we are accepting applications for Years 1 to 7. NAIS is part of Nord Anglia Education's global network of 27 premium schools - please visit Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong for more info, or feel free to email me at [email protected] or phone me on 3107 8158 if you have any questions. Good luck! Maddi

Thank you Maddi. I am actually waiting for the admission info of the school. I know that they are opening in 2014 but couldn't find any application details back in Sep. I will definitely apply for Y1 for my daughter.

Put your son in a local kindergarten so that he learns Cantonese (this will happen within months I can assure you -- if the kindy is Cantonese based. Then when Primary application time comes round in September (the year before he's 6), you can apply to your preferred school through the system. I would recommend Gin Mao Sheng Pentecostal Primary School in Fanling as they are very experienced with foreign children. Also NO FEES, so you'll save yourself a bunch of money.

    Hi BritOzMum,

I'm hoping that you're still on this forum. Just wondering which school you ended up choosing for your boy as i noticed our selection of schools are similar. At the beginning of this thread your top choices were IMS, ICA & AISHK but i noticed it has somewhat evolved within a few months. Perhaps due to more research?

My son is a year younger than yours and we're currently in your situation last year; done all the interviews and waiting for results. IMS is also one of our top choice, along with AISHK (my husband is Australian), CDNIS (i'm Canadian), and ICS. We are fortunate to have ESF as a back up. I sure hope the schools can give us definite answers soon or our moving plan will be dangling up in the air.

I look forward to hear from you and find out how your son and your daughter are doing, and i hope you are adapting well to Hong Kong

Fellow parents please do not hesitate to comment if you know any info regarding the schools i mentioned above. Any feedback is much appreciated!
