American International School or Christian Alliance International School?

    Hi All,

My 4.5 years old daughter got into k3/gr-junior class in these schools and we have to submit deposite in 2 days.

I really need your help in deciding about which one to choose.
Please can you give your comments on

    1. The repute of these schools and any comments on the academics.
    2. both have a huge proportion of local students. any comments on the school environment and also about the teachers there

I would really appreciate your help here

    Thanks!

Hmm, if you can read chinese and if you do a search in this link ????, you will find lots of negative comments on AIS but many good comments on CAIS.

If I were you, I would pick CAIS.

    thanks a lot mn_ma

please elaborate a bit on why you'd pick CAIS. any good things you have heard about it? I went there and by look of it, studens all seemed to me local (sorry for sounding a bit racist here) but i was just wondering if they really have a good mix of international students.
    any feedback on AIS

I have to make a decision really soon and would highly appreciate your inputs here
we live in tung chung and both schools dont have buses for here. now my little one might have to travel to tsing yi and knowing her, i think it would be too much for her. so after selecting the school, i will have to arrange for some transport too.

    many many Thanks!

If you have a choice please do not pick AIS ... you may be wasting the 10,000 application fee on something that is not worth it. You need to know the insider to get you in like the person who is on the board of directors and who also owns the land of the school. They just want easy money and USA citizenship ain't going to make the cut. I applied with personal experience. This is for Kinder section. I am not sure about the Primary section.

the application fee is only 1,000 hkd. I have the form in front of me. For the high school section there is space available. If the younger grades are that full, isn't that a sign that people want to send their kids here??

I paid application fee of HKD 20,000 back in Jan of 2011 for both my children for kinder section. But anyways the principal that I met said bluntly we do not take kids with problems and your kids have problems and we are a business, so that was the end of the conversation and sorry they are both out but if you want to apply again we welcome (yes for me to pay another HKD 20,000).

I didn't know about special educational needs not apply to all but they surely do not have decency to say we do not take kids that have speech problems and we definitely do not take kids that have ADHD symptoms. I have provided my son's evaluations and reports and he is a year behind his age. They could have said sorry we do not provide the support for those kind of children after holding their applications for 6 months?

My daughter was rolling on the ground when she interviewed with ESF and lack social skills, but then she was 4. But she is getting much better after she started ESF.

Schools everywhere are full not just AIS because of the mainland Chinese. That is why a lot of mainlanders want their children to be born in Hong Kong hospitals to get legal Hong Kong permanent residency. The Hong Kong people are complaining cause not only the International Schools are pack but even the local schools are packed since 2006 with the baby boom.

So the best thing is to open a school and you sure to have students.
