Anyone have kids studying at KCIS?

Does anyone have kids studying at KCIS at Braemar Hill? Is the International Section good in terms of teaching?

My kids don't study there but I went for a site visit and was rather shocked at the lack of facilities and generally how old and tired-looking the school was. It was like stepping back to the 1950's! The fees are not exactly cheap so I was expecting sometihng better. However, the curriculum sounds good (for what I wanted) and the staff were helpful and polite. For me, it will be Plan B.

    Thanks Twin Mummy.

Its lack of facilities is obvious when I browsed through its website. You seem to be quite impressed with the curriculum they offer, may I know more about this?

I believe they put equal emphasis on both English and Mandarin and follow the UK system (I'm a Brit so am a bit biased). They will also follow the IB programme as well. Also, they don't have any exams from P1-P6 (yippee from both me and the kids) but just have assessments. Not too much homework either (yippee again). It's just very expensive for me (as I have twins) and daddy was just too unimpressed with the school as a venue. The academic side of their teaching might be good but I doubt that they can offer much outside of the classroom (eg no running track). Can't imagine where the fees go except for the teachers' salary, I guess?

I have been trying to arrange a visit so that I can see the school first hand. So far, they haven't responded. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I have asked to meet with the Head Teacher. I just want to find out more from the person in charge of the International Section. Not an unreasonable request.

You're right - not unreasonable at all. The Head Teacher did reply to my emails but in the end, I organized my site visit with the Admin secretary who was very helpful. Her name was Anita in the Ching Wah campus (P1) then she helped me organize a visit to the Braemar Hill Campus where I met a lady named, Josephine, I think. Hope that helps.

    Hi Imanb

Just wondering whether you went for a site visit and what you thought of it? KCIS is still on my list of possibilities and I am interested in hearing of other people's thoughts.

    Cheers!

Hi Twin Mummy, we still haven't visited the school. Will let you know our opinion of it once we have done so.
