Thank you L'est Rose for such a detailed feedback. Just out of curiosity, what essential oils did you use?

There are several essential oils which are suitable for kids as they are mild and have the actions of calming, brings happiness, optimistic...
such as mixing lavender + mandarin + sweet orange

if you don't want to mix by yourself, can buy blended ones in the market. ALQVIMIA is a brand with aromatherapy products, and they have a specific range of product for children. The one that my son is using is their 'Children Body Oil'. I use because it's safe due to 100 % natural and formula is more gentle & mild as it is designed for kids. you can visit their official website if interested.

I agree with joannek; In the first two years, we did not have lots of family gathering as my parents were not living in Hong Kong. My son seldom met our cousin, uncle and auntie, and he was very shy when meeting them.

My parents came back to HK few months ago, and my son has more chances to be 'exposed' to different people. It helps and at least, takes less time for him to 'warm up' and say hello to people.

When I have time, I also bring him to the park. This will help him to develop his social and communication skills as well.

I've never thought about using essential oils. I normally just applied the popular brand body oil. It sounds like something quite soothing. Could you please let me know where I can find ALQVIMIA childen body oil in Hong Kong?

L'est Rose u have been wonderfully thorough in explaining your preparation for the interview process. Thank you very much, most people are not willing to share. Thanks again!

I also have encouraged my child to partake in different playggroups and classes to increase her exposure. Most people think I'm crazy for having started so early but having read your experience I feel I've done the right thing.

In addition to classes or playgroups, take advantage of informal settings as well.

I work full time and I encouraged my helper to take the babies out to the wet-market and grocery store. After a while they had their favorite stall holders who enjoyed smiling and playing with them.

Whenever we ran into our neighbors (we live in a small housing estate ~ 150 families) I would encourage them to say "Hello Auntie, Hello Uncle" and they also would chat and interact w/ the security guards, cleaning personnel, etc.

Even riding the bus or MTR, if people smiled at my kids, I would engage in brief conversations and encourage my kids to smile and say "hi".
That doesn't mean they didn't cry when they started nursery school, but they got used to it very quickly.

I am actually a student in CDNIS an i know that it is sometimes really hard to get in the school because there are a lot of people who wants to join CDNIS but there is usually not enough space. What they do in a interview for little kids is they put them in a pre- reception class and they plat for about 45 minutes and after they wold send a mail to your home and tell you if he/she go in. But for older kids they take a test where they talk in front of a teacher and ask questions. I think that this is a very good school for kids that are very playful because there is a lot of open space this our school. Next Year, there will be a green roof built on top of our school and this is very exciting for our school.
