I'm hoping that I can draw on the wealth of experience on this site.
I'll shortly be marrying my filipina sweetheart. Can't wait, as well as gaining a lovely wife, I'll also have a lovely, young daughter as part of the deal!
Finding a school for 6-year old Kate here in HK is proving to be a bit of a headache however.
I need to find a good International school that will accomodate a young girl who's first language is not English (and not Cantonese). The problem is that most "good" schools seem to require a level of English as a pre-requisite. So, I find myself with somewhat of a vicious circle.
Of course, her mother and I will do our best to coach her language skills, but I really need the support of the school to ensure her integration. Unfortunately, judging by some of the admissions officers I've had contact with, many of the "good" schools don't seem to be places I want my daughter to by schooled!
As well as the usual waiting lists to contend with, and the standard wishes for a good education for my child, finding an agreeable school doesn't seem to be easy at all. It has to be an International school really too - English has to be my priority over Cantonese, given that I (we!) may head back to the UK at any time.
So, I need a sympathetic International school, of some standard, in or around the Happy Valley locality. Money is not so much of a concern (though I'm loathe to hand over big money to some of these schools!), just the well-being of my family.
Can anyone provide any advice, or words of wisdom???
