I believe Quarry Bay ESF still has vacancies for P1 for the 9/09 entrance.

They said that they are full now, but it depends on nationality, maybe....Some nationalities have priorities, and they do keep some spaces for them.

I heard the same thing, QBS should have opening if not now will be coming soon. Yes, I think as far as I know British English speaking national still have the priority. Have you try the surety? It will put your children further up the list. Just got a space in The Peak school.
The only school I know from the ESF is still very tight with space it's the one in N.T..
I will keep calling. There must be spaces coming up now. People should be releasing their spaces .
Oh! I have got a list of which school got what opening somewhere, if you are interested. I will try to find it.
    Good luck!
    I know it's very frustrating.

    Hi,

Yes, Mooig, you are completely right! Surety definitely can help!
We got place in QBS only because of surety application. Before I was distantly contacted all ESF primary on HK island and was told that I'd bettere don't even try to apply there - huge waiting list was for our year group. But once came to HK and applied on surety (frankly saying, it was last week of submitting applications) we got place. The only special thing we had to sign there was our confirmation that we would take all responsibilities that our child would be studying at school that is non-designated for her residence area.
    Regards,
    Natalia

My oldest had her introduction day just before the school closures and they had basically a few open spots for (late) interviews left, but they did say all 120 spots will be filled. I know somebody who had the late interview, was offered a spot in a specific class, but declined (will go to another school).

By the way, my experience is that they're not lazy at all. I even asked to have an extra visit with my daughter because she's slow to warm up and they responded quickly and had me come a week before the "big" introduction day which worked out very well for my daughter.

http://www.esf.edu.hk/zh/node/556: go to their website. I think places are very limited and especially Year 1 and 7 spaces will be super hard this year, but I do think they have to keep a couple open for the scheme.

    Corporate Surety Scheme

ESF introduced a new Corporate Surety scheme in 2007 to enable companies to secure school places for expatriate employees before their arrival in Hong Kong over the summer months. The scheme runs from 1 January to 30 June of each year. There are limited surety places. The surety scheme will be open in January 2011 for application for August 2011 admissions. The surety scheme is currently not applicable for the ESF private Independent Schools or Kindergartens. Please click HERE for the application form. For queries, please email [email protected].

Year One places are so tight they have even closed them to CSS applicants.

    3. Corporate Surety Application (open for application from 1 January to 30 June 2011)

The scheme is for companies to assist their expatriate employees in securing a school place before their arrival in Hong Kong over the summer months. The surety scheme is for admissions to the academic year 2011-2012. There are limited surety places. Due to existing oversubscription, Year 1 surety places (for children born in 2006) are not available for August 2011.

tutubebe if you and your child(ren) currently reside in hk, i don't think CSS is an option for you.
