With the Phasing out of the Government Subvention (approx $20K yr/primary student and $28K yr/secondary student), the SCMP has reported that new ESF students can expect to see a fee increase in the 20% range in 2016. This is really no surprise as ESF fees have steadily increased year on year, with the most recent increase announced in March of 5.9% for the next academic year.

Students who enter the ESF system before the cut off date are guaranteed a subsidized education for 13 years.
