Island Christian Academy uses the International Primary Curriculum which is a similar enquiry based, thematic curriculum to PYP. It allows an easy transition into middle-years IB programmes as the learning modalities are very similar. ICA also uses the UK National curriculum for literacy and an Australian system called Origo for its maths programme all of which IMHO are excellent, structured and well delivered as well as being very engaging for the children using them.

Thanks. This pointed me to things that I should look into curriculum-wise.

    Thanks Ophelia28 for the update.

My biggest issue with a theme based curriculum is when the 3Rs (reading, writing, arithmetic) are no longer a priority. And I noticed this when I was going through my son's books, that spelling and grammar mistakes were not being corrected.

Good to know that ICA has adopted a literacy program.
