    Reality check: DSS admission?

    Hello,

We are an American relocating to Hong Kong this summer with three boys entering P5, P5 and S2. I would like to send them to a DSS school, preferably a through-train to keep them together, but am stymied by the application numbers and wonder if there is any realistic chance that they will be considered against all these high-achieving, Cantonese+Mandarin+English speaking local children. We have had Mandarin as a second language in Shanghai for three years now, but are still at the beginner level.

If DSS schools are not a realistic option, how do you find other local schools that are also good options and also have strong Mandarin?

    Thank you!
    Margaret

Indeed there are government schools serving foreigners, and use English for as a medium of teaching.

After school, schools even have tutorial lesson for written Chinese.

Most importantly, these schools are free of charge.

You might consider Creative Secondary School which offer local stream and IB stream.
